Soil Erosion Protection

Maccaferri gabions are cages which are engineered from double twisted hexagonal woven steel wire mesh. Delivered flat-packed, our gabions are assembled and then filled with stones at the project site.

There are numerous uses for these modular units and are typically used to form flexible, permeable and monolithic structures such as retaining walls, channel linings, hydraulic control structures and erosion protection. They are increasingly being used in architectural applications as well.

Maccaferri gabion baskets are made from high quality steel wire, which is heavily galvanised to provide long term corrosion protection. An additional protective polymeric coating is also applied for gabions that are to be used in more aggressive environments, or where a longer design life is required.

In order to reinforce the structure, all mesh panel edges are selvedged with a wire having a greater diameter.

RENO MATTRESS

Named after one of the first interventions carried out by Maccaferri over 100 years ago, the Reno Mattress® is now synonymous with hydraulic works and erosion protection projects worldwide.

Maccaferri Reno Mattresses® are cages, engineered from double twisted hexagonal woven steel wire mesh. Delivered flat-packed, they are assembled and then filled with stones at the project site to form flexible and permeable, monolithic structures such as river bank protection and channel linings for erosion control. Reno Mattresses® are divided into uniformly partitioned cells by internal diaphragms.

Maccaferri Reno Mattresses® are made from high quality steel wire, which is heavily galvanised to provide long term corrosion protection. An additional protective polymeric coating is also applied for gabions that are to be used in more aggressive environments, or where a longer design life is required.

Bidim is a continuous filament nonwoven needlepunched geotextile. It is manufactured of 100% recycled polyester from discarded cool-drink bottles. Its versatility sees it used in various applications from erosion control against tidal action, to reinforcing earth retaining structures, to separation in railway applications, to subsoil drainage in roads and homes, to liner protection in raw water dams, and more.

Concrete Canvas is part of a class of construction materials called Geosynthetic Cementitious Composite Mats (GCCMs).  It is a flexible, concrete impregnated fabric that harden on hydration to form a thin, durable, waterproof and fire-resistant concrete layer.  It is used in concrete channel lining, slope protection, bund lining, remediation of existing concrete structures, and culvert lining.

SoilSaver® is made from a biodegradable 100% jute yarn waoven to form a 65% open mesh structure which is ideal for erosion control. SoilSaver® serves to conserve moisture and hold seeds and soil firmly in place. The open structure provides space for plant propagation and growth.

Megaflo™ is a panel drain comprising a high strength slotted HDPE core wrapped in a bidim® geotextile filter to act as both a collector drain and conduit pipe in subsoil drains, leakage detection systems and sportsfields

Multi-Cell® is a honeycombed structure that is manufactured from strips of a coated slit film woven polypropylene tape that are stitched alternatively together to form a three dimensional diamond shaped cells.

Multi-Cell® is used as an in-situ shuttering to cast continuous interlocking concrete paving for road or canal construction and as an erosion control formwork for soil vegetated embankments.

Multi-Cell® has been extensively used in the construction industry s a fast and effective solution to canal / channel protection, load support and erosion control.
